Lift the World Cup in 15 minutes

Pick your nation. Win three knockout matches. Lift the cup. Soccer Skills 2: World Cup is a free 3D browser football game built around one mechanic — drag to aim, release to shoot — that powers every shot, pass, throw-in, corner, free kick, and penalty you'll take. No tutorial, no group stage. You start at the quarter-finals with one of 32 national sides, and the bracket resets the moment you lose. A complete run takes 10–15 minutes. Play solo against the AI, or hand the keyboard over for local 2-player on the MULTIPLAYER menu.

Tournament bracket

Three matches stand between you and the cup: quarter-final → semi-final → final. No group stage, no friendlies — you start at the QF and the bracket resets the moment you lose.

A full match runs 1–3 minutes; a complete run, 10–15. That's the playtime contract: every match has stakes from the kickoff, and there's no warm-up round against a hopelessly weak side. Even the first QF puts you against a competitive opponent.

Difficulty climbs noticeably round-to-round — the keeper reacts faster, the AI dribbles tighter, the windows for clean shots shrink. Most runs die in the semi.

Game modes

PLAY CUP

The full World Cup bracket. Pick a nation, win three knockout matches to lift the trophy. The bracket resets on a loss — same nation if you want a redo, different flag for a fresh angle.

PRACTICE

A single friendly match against an AI side of your choice. Useful for learning the drag-to-aim timing without bracket pressure. Nothing is saved between practice sessions.

MULTIPLAYER

Local 2-player on the same device. Same World Cup bracket, same drag-to-shoot controls, with a human reading your fakes instead of the AI. The MULTIPLAYER button sits on the team-select screen next to PLAY CUP.

Which team should I pick?

32 nations sit on the team-select screen, sorted by overall rating. Three picks for three playstyles:

  • First run: Brazil, France, Argentina. Top-tier ratings translate to faster shots and tighter ball control. Sloppy drags still find the corner; clean ones are almost guaranteed. Easiest path to the trophy.
  • Mid-tier challenge: Germany, Portugal, England. Mid-high overall. Less forgiving on rushed shots, but more rewarding once you've internalized the drag-aim timing.
  • Self-imposed handicap: Cabo Verde, Uzbekistan, DR Congo. Bottom of the rating list. Keeper reacts slower than yours wants; power and placement feel weaker. Beating Brazil with Cabo Verde in the final is the run worth bragging about.

Avoid the mid-table sides on your first few runs — they sit in the awkward middle where you can't tell whether a mistake came from your drag or the team's stat line.

Set pieces in detail

  • Penalties — The keeper telegraphs his dive one frame before you release. Watch his shoulders, aim the opposite side. Aim center and he saves it nine times out of ten.
  • Free kicks — Short straight drag = bullet over the wall; long curved drag = bender around it. Never aim center. Anything within 25 metres of goal is a real chance — take the shot.
  • Corners — Power matters less than angle. A flatter trajectory beats a high cross when the box is crowded — your striker meets the ball before the keeper can claim it.
  • Throw-ins — The only set piece without a goal involved. Aim at a teammate's run, not where he's standing now. A throw straight to feet usually gets pressed off the ball.

Soccer Skills 1 vs 2

The original Soccer Skills (2017) was free kicks and penalties only — a focused mini-game. The sequel scales the same drag-to-aim mechanic up to a full 3D pitch with tournament play. If you liked SS1's feel, SS2 is the natural step up.

Frequently asked questions

Playtime trade-off. A full World Cup run takes 10–15 minutes — playable on a coffee break. Starting at the QF means every match has stakes from the kickoff, and most players actually reach the final instead of dropping off mid-group-stage.
No. Closing the tab or losing a knockout match resets the bracket to the quarter-final. The game stores your chosen nation and best results in browser storage, but the in-progress bracket doesn't persist. Plan a 10–15 minute window before starting a run.
Brazil, France, or Argentina. Their top-tier overall ratings translate to faster shots and forgiving placement when your drag isn't clean. Once you've taken the trophy with one of them, drop to a mid-tier side for a real test.
On most networks, yes — the game loads over plain HTTPS with no plugins, so filters that block Flash or legacy game launchers don't catch it. If your network blocks gaming domains by category, only IT can whitelist this domain.
